Sometimes in life you get to meet some lovely people and genuine stars,
from Phil the Grosvenor manager to Jim Rosenthal and Willy Thorne.
Night started with a champagne reception follwed by dinner and copious amounts of alcahol and wonderful entertainment from speakers and Tenors Unlimited,
I told our news reader to bring the camera as always on the lookout for a scoop or a chance to get the npf brand name out there and so it was to be.
Have to say Willy Thorne was a proper gent but for me Jim Rosenthal stole the show we approached him early in the evening to sighn the NPF shirt we took along and he just took over from there passing it round the room and finally putting it in the hands of one of the organisers to get it sighned by both England and Germany sqauds, I then asked him if he was up for a short interview and his response was " absolutely but please can you wait until the end of the evening when I`m finnished" we said absolutely and left him to contnue his role as compere for the evening,
we didnt pester or hassle him and true to is word at midnight he came back over to us and said ok lads lets do it what do you want from me ?.
This guy had worked all night as compere / interviewer / and host yet he still had time for us what a legend,I watched him and he didnt have any notes yet never faultered once in his performance for a truly remarkable cause.
I`m starting to enjoy this interveiwng malarky Gegg Raymer - Jen Harman - Barny Boatman - Willy Thorne ALL LOVELY TO SPEAK TO BUT FOR ME THE ENTHUSIASM OF JIM ROSENTHAL WILL STAY WITH ME AND TAKE SOME BEATING, HE IS INDEED A BROADCASTING LEGEND AND A LOVELY BLOKE ASWELL.
Thank you again Grosvonor it was an absolute pleasure to represent you and the NPF at a truly special evening to honour a Sir Bobby.
